About Us

We love coffee. Always have. And one of our favourite things about travelling is exploring the local coffee — finding the cafés, trying different roasts and brew styles, and bringing the ones we love back home with us.

In Japan and across Asia, we kept noticing these little drip bags everywhere. In the cafés we loved, in convenience stores, in hotel rooms. We tried them expecting nothing, and kept being surprised. The coffee was actually good. You could smell it blooming as you poured the water. You could taste the flavours the roaster intended. It had everything a proper pour-over has — just no equipment, no cleanup, no fuss.

That's the thing about Nespresso and pod coffees — they're convenient, but the experience and taste isn't really there. The smell, the ritual, the taste. With a drip bag, it all shows up. And you can take it anywhere.

We started buying them to bring home. Then we started buying extras. Then we started thinking: why isn't this more of a thing in the US?

That's how Rip & Drip started. We wanted to bring the format home — made with the kind of specialty coffee Seattle is known for, sourced from local roasters we actually love — so that the next great cup doesn't have to wait until your next trip.
